Fun Facts
About one in five babies between 2 weeks and 3 months old go through crying spurts. Colic is not a physical disorder or disease; it simply refers to 3 or more hours a day of continued crying without a visible explanation (such as hunger or a wet diaper). Learning soothing techniques can help to drastically shorten these spells.
Swaddling is an incredibly important way to soothe a newborn. Babies love to be contained and feel boundaries. It makes them feel secure. Our session will guide you through the proper way to safely swaddle your baby.
Some experts believe that babies between 2 weeks and 3 months of age cry inconsolably because unable to handle all that is going on in the world around them. This is why colic often presents itself in the evening. The babies are basically saying that it has been a long day of seeing, hearing and learning new things -- enough is enough. Contrary to what parents may think, this overwhelming fatigue may translate into crying fits rather than sleep because their baby may not have the ability to self-soothe. Our session will help to teach parents the techniques to try and soothe their crying babies.
Babies can never be held to much, especially the first 3 months!! Hopefully through our session, you will find ease in taking care of your newborn, thus allowing you and your family to thoroughly enjoy the first few months of life.
Many parents simply have not taken care of newborns before, therefore it can be a very anxiety-provoking experience. Hospital stays are much too short for parents to go home feeling comfortable in their new role.
According to the Safe Kids website, car seat misuse is common. An estimated 85 percent of children who are placed in child safety seats and booster seats are improperly restrained. Misuse includes but is not limited to: using an inappropriate seat for the child’s age and size, placing an infant who is either under 1 year or under 20 pounds in a forward-facing seat, not securing the seat tightly in the vehicle and not securing the child correctly in the seat. Being a car seat safety technician, I can make sure your baby is safely restrained in their infant seat and that the seat is properly installed in your car.
